Hope for Hooves Rescue and Adoption is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides a rescue and adoption shelter, and associated programs, for neglected, abused and abandoned equine and livestock animals.
One of our goals is to rescue horses from "kill barns", a term used for a holding location for animals sold for the sole purpose of slaughter. These animals are primarily purchased through livestock auctions for human consumption in foreign countries. Many times, these horses are healthy and are able to live long lives. Unfortunately, for various reasons, they end up at auction and are eventually shipped to slaughterhouses in Mexico and Canada. The transport alone to these countries is brutal and inhumane.
Hopes For Hooves' program include a three step process: rescue, rehabilitation, adoption.
